Fishing has really picked up over the weekend. There have been many reports of limits of males in the 14-17" range with a few larger fish also being reported. Vertical jigging with Shiners or Gulp continues to put the most fish in the boat, but I expect Nightcrawlers to start producing more fish as the water temperatures continue to warm this week.

Walleye fishing is still going strong on the Wolf River, nightcrawlers have become the bait of choice, since the Whitebass love minnows! If Whitebass are what you are after, they are catching a fair amount already, but we need a couple warm sunny days to get the run in full swing! Sturgeon are actively spawning from New London to the Shawano Dam, which can be a really fun thing to check out with the kids!

Took another trip out to the Wolf River for a couple hours last night and was not disappointed with the fishing! The two of us managed 17 Walleyes from 4:30-7:30! All the fish were caught vertical jigging 1/4 ounce jigs with a half crawler. Put a minnow on right now and you will be pulling in a Whitebass! Watched a few boats around us pulling them in one after the other! Now is a great time to get out on the Wolf with the family and enjoy putting some fish in the boat! Whitebass seem to be on the inside bends and shallow sides of the river, while the Walleyes are on the deeper side and in the deeper holes. Good luck and feel free to leave your report!

Deer Season is almost here, which means that the Walleyes are biting on the Wolf River! Fishing isn't as fast and furious on the river as it was last fall, but there are still fish around for those interested in looking for them. I made it out last weekend for a few hours and managed 4 nice Walleyes (16"-19") and also a couple small Walleyes (6"-10"). Its good to see some small fish around, meaning Walleyes for the future! I found the fish to be scattered throughout the river, but holding in deep water or just downstream from deep holes on the river bends. 12-18 fow supplied all the action. I also noticed that a chartreuse jig outproduced any other color that day. If venturing out, don't hesitate to move around until you catch some fish!
